Job Description

As our Senior Continuous Improvement Specialist you will have the opportunity to provide leadership and implementation of assigned continuous improvement activities. This is a proactive, results oriented, hands on role to develop and lead a culture of continuous improvement, continuous improvement of our business performance, and ensure alignment throughout the business to goals and objectives.

In this role, you will:

Be expected to work in accordance with our core values: Safety, Accountability, Integrity, Respect, Passion and innovation. The role of the Senior CI Specialist is to enable and support in the following areas:

Lead Improvement Culture:

  • Ensure all improvements are focused on a safety first mentality.
  • Develop formal training for others on lean and six sigma tools and principles.
  • Train - trainers in lean and six sigma tools and principles.
  • Coach others on lean and six sigma principles, projects, and tools.
  • Coach - coaches on effective coaching and mentoring techniques.
  • Facilitates kaizen throughout the business.
  • Empower and involve everyone in the continuous improvement journey.
  • Develop systems and mechanisms for idea capture, facilitate suggestions for improvement, recognize team members for their improvements.
  • Ensure employee recognition is systemic in the organization.

Continuously Improve our business performance:

  • Leader of problem solving tools and techniques to drive hands on problem solving activities (A3, DMAIC, PDCA, data analysis
  • Lead cross functional teams in improvement events.
  • Drive implementation of continuous improvement tools and systems.
  • Create documentation, charts, labels to support visual factory efforts.
  • Deliver cost savings projects to achieve site growth and productivity improvements.
  • Support the achievement and documentation of all site growth and productivity requirements.
  • Support development of project funnel to capture future opportunities and ensure moving forward in the CI journey.
  • Drive 5S initiatives throughout the site, own sustainment and standardization of 5S efforts.
  • Ensure standard work is developed and all processes in the site have and are working to standard work.
  • Develop and deploy layered audit process for all standard work.
  • Document and share best practices with other Albany sites.

Align teams to strategic priorities:

  • Support hoshin working and reporting sessions.
  • Support regular report out activities on continuous improvement projects.
  • Assist in development of the annual and long term CI roadmap.
  • Effectively communicate strategic priorities with cross functional teams.
  • Develop and standardize sustainable improvement systems.
  • Lead the development of KPI's for daily performance management connected with site strategy.
  • Special projects and miscellaneous duties, as needed or assigned

    Supervisory responsibility: No

    Working Conditions: Indirect Labor: Office environment, moderate to quiet noise and not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Some travel <10% may be required.

    Physical requirements:

    • Occasionally positions self to move an office or production item.
    • Frequently move about the production floor and office area to attend meetings or trainings
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time
    • Frequently operates a computer, enters data into systems, verifies information, etc.

Day
Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree preferred, or 4 years direct equivalent experience
  • 4 Years of manufacturing or related experience
  • Aerospace or regulated manufacturing experience preferred
  • Six Sigma Black Belt required or in progress
  • Ability to lead project based activities with minimal oversite
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Strong computer skills (MS office, minitab, data analytics)
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
  • Technical writing skills
